Sixteen hummingbirds, scattered across the canvas.
Not a logo on a bag — a spread. The birds drift across the front the way they'd cross a garden, each one drawn from life and named beneath it.
Among them the familiar: Anna's, the only one that winters on the Pacific coast, whose dive-chirp is made by air through his tail feathers rather than his voice; the Rufous, which crosses from Alaska to Mexico and back on three grams of bird; the Calliope, smallest bird on the continent at about the weight of a penny; the Broad-tailed, whose wings trill like a cricket; plus the Black-chinned, Costa's, Broad-billed and Rivoli's.
And the ones you have to travel for, most of them Mexican birds that reach the United States only in the sky-island canyons of southeast Arizona and West Texas: the Blue-throated Mountain-gem, largest in the country; the Berylline, which has nested in Arizona only a handful of times; the Violet-crowned, White-eared, Plain-capped Starthroat and Lucifer Sheartail; Allen's, on its narrow strip of coastal California; and the Ruby-throated, the only hummingbird breeding east of the Great Plains.
Printed on the Stanley/Stella tote: 300 GSM canvas in 100% recycled cotton, GRS certified. Double-folded top edge for strength, long self-fabric handles with reinforced cross-stitching, and a shaping seam at the base that gives it real volume. OEKO-TEX Recycled, PETA-Vegan and Fair Wear certified.
Made to order, and made to outlast a hundred plastic bags.
10% of every sale supports hummingbird conservation.
