Four birds of prey holding on at the edge, each for a different reason.
The Philippine Eagle is one of the largest eagles alive — a seven-foot wingspan and a shaggy mane of crest feathers — and it hunts monkeys and flying lemurs through the canopy of four islands and nowhere else on earth. Fewer than four hundred pairs remain, and killing one carries a prison sentence. The Harpy Eagle works the same trade in the American tropics, with talons the length of a grizzly bear's claws and short broad wings built for turning hard between trunks; it lifts sloths and monkeys straight out of the canopy. The Saker Falcon doesn't stoop from height like a peregrine — it runs its prey down low and flat across the Central Asian steppe, and is trapped in enormous numbers for the falconry trade and killed on unguarded power poles. And Ridgway's Hawk is down to a few hundred birds on a single island, most of them inside one national park in the Dominican Republic, where parasitic botfly larvae kill nestlings in the nest and conservationists treat the broods by hand, one at a time.
Printed on the Stanley/Stella tote: 300 GSM canvas in 100% recycled cotton, GRS certified. Double-folded top edge for strength, long self-fabric handles with reinforced cross-stitching, and a shaping seam at the base that gives it real volume. Sized for groceries, books, or a day's worth of everything. OEKO-TEX Recycled, PETA-Vegan and Fair Wear certified.
