By 1982 the California Condor was down to twenty-two individuals. The last wild bird was captured in 1987, and for a stretch of years the species survived only in captivity. More than 500 exist today, over half of them free-flying across California, Arizona, Utah, and Baja.
They are the largest land bird in North America — a ten-foot wingspan carrying them 150 miles in a day, mostly on rising air. Lead poisoning from spent ammunition is still the leading cause of death among wild adults.
Printed on the Stanley/Stella Knoxer: 400 GSM brushed 3-end fleece, 80% certified organic combed ring-spun cotton with 20% recycled polyester. Raglan sleeves, V-notch collar, ribbed side panels, 1×1 ribbed cuffs and hem, triple-needle flatlock stitching at the armholes, tear-away label. The heaviest piece in the collection. GOTS 80, OEKO-TEX, PETA-Vegan and Fair Wear certified.
Made to order — nothing is printed until you buy it, so there's no deadstock and no end-of-season landfill.
10% of every sale goes to the Condor Recovery Program and the Ventana Wildlife Society.
Unisex relaxed fit. Sizes XS–3XL. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low.
